World War I Display Cases

In World War I we see technological advances familiar to the present day such as automobiles and trucks, airplanes and breech-loading weapons. The main animal important to transportation was the mule, not the horse, because of the mule being a beast of burden able to pull a heavy load for a long time. Horses were mainly used in the cavalry, which was of limited use in this war.

A part of the WWI case on the right acknowledges the contributions of women in the war. Anna K. Westmas was an Army nurse in the war and her family donated her collection in 1971.
